Q. How do I update my Navionics chart?
A. Navionics makes updating easy with our hassle-free Trade-In/Update Program.
Q. If I find an inaccuracy or error in my Chart, can Navionics correct it?
A. Navionics always appreciates receiving customer support and feedback and asks that you please complete a one-page Problem Report Form or e-mail us the nature of the problem in as much detail as possible. We have devised the Cartography Problem Report online for customers to notify us of any inconsistencies that are found. Customers are then contacted once the Cartography Department receives the report, when we investigate the report, if we need additional information and also when/if the area is updated. Customers can always feel free to contact Navionics directly to inquire about the status of a Problem Report. Navionics strives to provide the best customer service, and the input of our customers enables us to improve the quality of our charts.
Q. Can I follow Navionics on Facebook or Twitter?
A. Yes! Be the first to know about chart updates and new updates products by following us on our Facebook and Twitter pages!
Q. Can I add my own User Generated Content (UGC) or Points of Interest (POI) to Navionics Charts?
A. Yes! As part of Navionics' commitment to quality and providing valuable information, we have begun collecting UGC. Please use our new UGC Collection Form to input data you feel would be a valuable addition to Navionics charts. Thanks for your feedback!
Q. Where do you get the information you use in Navionics Charts?
A. It may vary by Navionics product as well as by continent, country and/or area, but most commonly Navionics sources its data from official government hydrographic offices such as NOAA and NIMA to name just a few. Navionics also conducts its own on-the-water surveys when existing information is not available, is out-of-date, or is not of good quality.
Q. What type of detail do Navionics Charts show?
A. Navionics Charts show depth contours, spot soundings, navigational aids, boat ramps, marinas, bottom composition, tides & currents (where available), obstruction information such as reefs, wrecks, and submergent and emergent vegetation.

In addition, Navionics Platinum charts show additional features, including full-3D charts, panoramic pictures, satellite imagery, coast pilot guides, POIs, and built-in offshore fishing detail.

Finally, US and Canada specialty products such as HotMaps and the new Fish'N Chip show HD fishing information, including up-to-1' depth contours, vegetation, marsh and user-generated fishing spots.

Q. Why should I choose Navionics over your competitors such as C-Map & Garmin?
A. Navionics offers true vector information and creates a database from the paper charts into one seamless image. No holes in the information, no discontinuities, no overwhelming clutter. This allows for faster re-draw over our competitors. Navionics charts are compatible with the widest range of today's most popular chartplotters, software and handheld GPS by DeLorme, Eagle, Fugawi, Furuno, Geonav, Humminbird, Lowrance, Medallion, Murphy, Northstar, Raymarine and Simrad... and mobile devices, such as iPhone, iPad and Android, so you can enjoy Navionics... Anytime, Anywhere! And Navionics Trade-In Program makes it easy to update your charts.
Q. Are Navionics Charts PC and Mac compatible?
A. First and foremost, Navionics Charts are available on preprogrammed plug-and-play cartridges, or chips, that are compatible with a growing number of today's most popular chart plotters (download compatibility guides: Americas | Europe-Asia-Oceania-Africa-Polynesia).

Navionics charts* can be used in your PC or Mac using a compatible software package**. If you wish to view your chart(s) to plan boating trips in the comfort of your own home, as well as transfer routes and waypoints from your computer to your GPS plotter, then we recommend NavPlanner (Europe-Asia-Oceania-Africa-Polynesia users) or NavPlanner2 (Americas users). If you wish to also add GPS and navigation capabilities for your PC or Mac, then please see our list of compatible software manufacturers**.

*Navionics Classic Charts and HotMaps Classic Lake Maps are not PC or Mac compatible.

**Please contact the respective software manufacturer to verify PC- and Mac-compatibility, as well as compatibility with Gold, Platinum+, HotMaps, HotMaps Premium and HotMaps Platinum charts.

Q. What datum setting does Navionics use for their Charts?
A. Navionics uses WGS84 datum for all current charts.  If a customer has a chart purchased prior to January of 2002, it is recommended that they contact us with the code number of their chip and we will verify the datum used for that particular chip.
Q. Will Navionics Charts work in my Garmin plotter?
A. No. Garmin used to license Navionics chart data sold as G-Charts. Garmin now uses other data sources. Please contact Garmin directly for charts for your Garmin unit.
Q. Are there any videos that show me more about Navionics Mobile Apps and Charts?
A. Yes. You can learn much more about Navionics Mobile Apps and Charts on our YouTube Channel.
Q. Do electronic charts replace paper maps?
A. The electronic chart is an aid to navigation designed to facilitate the use of authorized government charts, not to replace them. Only official government charts and notices to mariners contain all information needed for the safety of navigation, and as always, the captain is responsible for their prudent use.
