Q. What are the available overlay options? A. There are three chart overlay options: No Overlay shows Navionics maps with no overlay (this option is the only one available offline), Google shows Navionics maps with Google Maps overlay, Bing shows Navionics maps with Bing (Microsoft) overlay. |
Q. Does the overlay get stored on the iPhone? A. No. The overlay modes are only available online and do not get stored. The data comes directly from the Google/Bing servers. |

Q. I have downloaded the App, but I see no Ski Resorts in it. What do I do? A. Click on the Download Ski Resorts icon on the top task bar. To download the list of Ski Resorts, the app will briefly need to connect to the Internet.. You can Search a Ski Resort by typing the name, or by selecting first the country/state and then choosing from the alphabetically ordered resort list using the alphabet side bar or typing the name. Downloaded Ski Resorts are saved in My Ski Resorts and in Favorites. |
Q. Do I need to have cellular coverage to use the App? A.With an iPhone, cell coverage is needed when you access the "Download Ski Resort" area to download a Ski Resort, and if you use the App with the Google Maps overlay. |
Q. I'm not able to sync my iPhone, what am I doing wrong? A. Navionics Mobile app 3.0 or greater is compatible with iPhones that are updated with Apple's iPhone OS 3.0 software or greater. Update your iPhone software then try to sync again. |
Q. How do I download Navionics Mobile to my iPhone? A. Launch your iTunes (if you do not yet have an iTunes account, you will need to set one up first). You can purchase and download to your PC just as you would with any other application available on the App Store, and then sync your iPhone. (Downloading direct to your iPhone is not possible since the Apps are greater than 10MBs). Go to the App Store within your iTunes, then search for Navionics, locate the app that covers the region you require, then click the "BUY APP" button. The Navionics Mobile app will require some time to download. Once your iTunes indicates that downloading is complete, and you can see the Navionics app in your Applications Library of your iTunes, connect your iPhone to your computer, select it from the Device menu (left column in your iTunes), click the Applications tab, make sure your Navionics app is selected to sync, then click the Sync (or Apply) button (lower right corner). Q. Can I record my track? A. Yes. To record your Track, simply tap the Track button and recording starts. Tap Track again and recording stops. You have the choice to Stop&Save Track or to Stop&Delete Track. You will find the list of all your saved Tracks in the Favorite section of your app. Tracks are numbered in sequence, but can easily be renamed. The App Store icon on your iPhone will indicate you have updates available with a small red circle on the top right corner which includes a number indicating the number of updates you have available. Press the App Store icon, then press Updates, all the available update are listed Since Navionics apps are very large files, you must use a wifi connection when updating direct to your iPhone, or use your computer. |
Q. Can I load or back up Navionics Mobile on my PC? A. Yes, you can back up your App but only through your iTunes account. This doesn't give you the possibility to view the chart, but only to re-download it on your iPhone. |

Q. Sometimes when I launch my app it puts me in the wrong location. What can I do? A. If you are uncertain your GPS is working properly try doing the following:
1. Make sure you have the Location Services in the ON position (Settings/General/Location Services ON/OFF)
2. Make sure the iPhone is exposed to the sky and out of doors.
3. Give the iPhone enough time to locate a signal (sometimes minutes)
4. Re-boot iPhone if a signal cannot be made.
5. Still problem? Check against other Apps using GPS such as Google Maps in the same position as Navionics. Does the other App place you in the same position as (GPS accuracy is affected by a number of factors, including satellite positions, noise in the radio signal, atmospheric conditions, and natural barriers to the signal.)

Q. Do I need a GPS antenna for my iPhone to view Navionics Mobile Charts and see my position? A. Location technology is built into the iPhone 3G and uses the GPS to display your location. Earlier versions of the iPhone are not guaranteed to work with Navionics Mobile. |
Q. Do I need to have cellular coverage to use the GPS function? A. With the iPhone 3G, location technology is built into the device. Your approximate location is determined using available information from cellular network data, local Wi-Fi networks (if you have Wi-Fi turned on), and GPS (if you have an iPhone 3G; GPS not available in all locations). Once you have downloaded Navionics Mobile applications to your iPhone, they are resident on your device and are a reliable tool to access charts even when not in cell range. Please note that earlier versions of the iPhone are not guaranteed to work with Navionics Mobile. |
Q. Can I save a Navionics Mobile map image on my iPhone? A. Yes you can. You can take a snapshot of your iPhone screen at anytime. Simply hold down the "Home" button (the round one at the bottom of your iPhone), then push and release the "Sleep/Wake" button (the one on the top of your iPhone). Your iPhone screen will flash, and make the same sound as if you took a picture. The image of your screen has been recorded and is now in your Photos library. (Same steps for iPod touch devices only you will not hear the sound). |

Q. Why is my iPhone having problems acquiring a satellite fix? A. GPS signals may be weak if you are indoors or in a covered area. |

Q. Where can I find the icon that notifies me when there's an update available? A. When updates are available for any of the Apps installed on your iPhone the App Store icon on your iPhone will appear with a small red dot on the upper right corner. The red dot will have a number inside it which indicates the number of updates that are available for your installed Apps. By clicking the App Store icon, and then 'Updates' (lower right corner of the screen), you'll be shown a list of all the available updates for your installed Apps, if any. Available updates are also indicated by viewing your Applications library in your iTunes and clicking on 'Check for Updates' on the lower right corner of your iTunes window. |
