WAREHAM, Massachusetts – Navionics' Mobile products, which offer their award winning electronic charts to be displayed on iPhones, iPads and Android mobile devices, received the first annual Chuck Husick Marine Technology Award at the Annapolis Sailboat Show on October 6, 2011. The Chuck Husick Marine Technology award commemorates the late ON contributing editor. Navionics Area Manager, Jon Noel, accepted the award on behalf of Navionics.
Peter Stoops, an experienced ocean sailor and one of the 12 judges remarked, “the Navionics Mobile chart product was an excellent choice in terms of how often it's used, how simple it is, how inexpensive it is, and how effective it is. Being able to access charts by simply pulling out your iPhone, iPad or Android phone makes Navionics Mobile a convenient planning tool and a great way to keep track of your vessel's position from anywhere on board your boat.”
Navionics Product Manager, Shaun Ruge, commented on the Chuck Husick award, “Ocean Navigator is a very reputable voice for the marine community and it gives Navionics great pride to accept this award for innovative technology.”
The Navionics user experience for Smartphone’s features award winning cartography, tides and currents, route planning, a newsstand that allows access to geo-referenced articles from the world’s leading publishers and is the first application to permit the end user to edit their charts and share corrections with the entire Navionics community.
